Santoni plans and schedules the production of circular machines for socks with the APS of Cybertec
Santoni was founded in 1919 as the first Italian manufacturer of circular sock machines and then became part of the Lonati Group, world leader in the production of sock machines, in 1988. Since then Santoni has linked its name to that of seamless production, becoming in turn, world leader in the production of electronic circular machines for seamless clothing. Thanks to the potential and versatility of its machines, the company has moved from the initial development of intimate clothing machinery to the most technical sportswear, to the last conquest in the field of outer knitwear. Today, Santoni meets 97% of the worldwide demand for seamlesswear production.
Santoni has been forward-thinking in the choice of an advanced planning and scheduling solution, in fact the company has been using the CyberPlan APS for over 15 years. Before CyberPlan planned with an MRP module that was part of the ERP, this product, however, presented several problems including the fact that it could be “launched” only during the night and that often stopped because of various problems; following the occurrence of a problem you had to wait until the following day to get a production plan again. The push has therefore come from the need for greater speed in planning, more precision and to better manage delivery dates. Santoni needed a MRP that was faster and more accurate than the one used and that allowed full control of delivery dates, which we had difficulty managing at the time.
Through CyberPlan Santoni manages the planning and scheduling of the production of circular machines. The APS solution then gives visibility to the workloads of the workshop, both immediately and for production expected in the future. This visibility on future production and assembly cycles allows to better organize the entire production department and not only, avoiding work overloads.
Thanks to CyberPlan Santoni is able to understand what he has to produce and when he has to do it. Beyond that CyberPlan allows to see which materials are needed, which are missing and when it will be possible to complete or receive the missing ones; not only that, it communicates when it is necessary to deliver the products to the customers and if it is in good standing on the roadmap. The company declares that CyberPlan is particularly useful in preventing critical situations thanks to the fact that it gives visibility to the future by allowing to anticipate the production of parts with long lead times, which otherwise would risk delaying orders.
