The famous company based in the Veneto region choses Cybertec since almost twenty years to govern the planning and scheduling processes of production
Uniflair was founded in 1988 as a company specialized in the design and production of precision conditioners, refrigeration systems (also known as “chillers”) and raised floors. In 2010 Uniflair became part of the Schneider Electric group. The combination of APC’s Cooling portfolio and Uniflair has resulted in a comprehensive offering of solutions to meet any need for precision cooling for IT environments and mission-critical applications.
Before being equipped with the CyberPlan software, production planning in Uniflair was carried out in a traditional way. This placed limits on a production that instead showed itself growing both in terms of size and complexity. The main reasons that have led Uniflair to improve its processes and tools derive from the desire to guarantee its customers precise and reliable delivery dates and to increase the efficiency of its supply chain, from purchases to the warehouse. The Veneto company therefore felt the need for an instrument that would guarantee a quick, detailed and efficient planning process. The company management decided to invest in new and innovative tools capable of evolving the Uniflair supply chain and adequately seizing the opportunity represented by strong growth. The company management thus had the foresight to invest in highly specialized tools that supported the ERP at the end of a long software selection. The Advanced Planning and Scheduling software CyberPlan emerged as a clear winner.
The CyberPlan implementation lasted a few months and was followed by Cybertec consultants. We have integrated as many things as possible into the registry, so that CyberPlan can draw on the data contained in AS400 and use them to the fullest. CyberPlan was then configured so as to have the opportunity to understand how much material is present in stock, how much stock and what is required by each line business, over the years it was then implemented creating monitoring useful for the best use of the materials contained in the warehouses.
From the single user of CyberPlan it has been passed to an increase of the utilities, following the discovery by Uniflair of the utility of CyberPlan. In this way the departments have been covered: planning, purchasing, production and warehouse.
CyberPlan gives’ visibility to the user of the consequences, of certain actions on production and orders, which also allows you to have a professional growth. Having something visual and quick determines a real leap in quality. CyberPlan is used to visualize data with the dual objective of giving precise delivery dates to customers and validating purchase orders for procurement, based on actual production requirements. When a dating is made with CyberPlan, the date of delivery to the customer is first defined (extremely important data for the KPI of the on-time delivery) and the relative start date of production. The plant then makes sure that the materials (coming from the outside or from the company warehouses) arrive at the beginning of the production line at the beginning of production.
The APS tool is used for different purposes and not just for production planning. The potential of CyberPlan has made it a useful tool also for departments such as customer service, which by querying the software can improve customer service. The goodness of CyberPlan in providing visibility on the production process led Uniflair to use it in the planning, production, purchasing and warehouse departments.
Thanks to the APS tool by Cybertec, Uniflair, it is also able to communicate more effectively with suppliers and customers. With regard to suppliers Uniflair has gained the opportunity to share information about the times and quantities of products that will be needed. Suppliers are thus able to self-regulate and produce independently in order to satisfy Uniflair’s requests. Thanks to CyberPlan Uniflair is able to obtain the materials necessary for an order (that they come from procurement or picking) in the line of belonging, at the beginning of production date.
The APS of Cybertec is also useful for Uniflair customers. In fact, its MRP allows the Veneto company to better manage the consequences of these changes on already planned processes. Uniflair examines the possible variations to orders and their consequences, an aspect of fundamental importance as customers often request changes to orders. This allows Uniflair to increase customer satisfaction, without having repercussions on its supply chain.
CyberPlan is also useful for purposes that perhaps are not typically connected to an APS is sometimes used to understand customer requests. This is all the more true in the event that Uniflair deals with a front office and not with the end customer, perhaps by telephone, which requires immediate response times. In a world production like that of Uniflair, answering by telephone the question about the possibility of anticipating an order may not be immediate.
